Drainage Control

Buckingham Pest Control, Inc. also specializes in new construction drainage control. After a new home has been waterproofed, BPCI installs a drain tile system (commonly known as French Drains) on the interior and exterior of the foundation footings. The purpose of a drain tile system is to channel water away from a foundation or into a collection pit to be pumped out and away from the structure.

	BPCI only installs this system on new construction. For homes needing waterproofing systems after construction, please consult the Yellow Pages or an Internet directory.
	For this type of system, BPCI utilizes a 3" perforated plastic pipe designed for drainage systems (4" upon customer request). On the exterior of the foundation, the perforated pipe is covered with a porous "sock" which allows water to enter, but prohibits blockage by mud and debris.

*BPCI only installs the drain tile pipe. On the interior of the foundation, the pipe is covered with clean gravel from the inside of the structure. If no gravel is in place or the gravel is not spread, the pipe is anchored in place to the best of our ability. On the exterior of the structure, the "sock" pipe is laid in place and the owner or contractor is responsible for backfilling with clean rock prior to backfilling with soil. This layer of clean rock is to help prevent future clogging of the pipe with mud. All pipe is taken from structure by contractor or landscaping professional.

* The foundation contractor is responsible for installing the appropriate "sleeves" (holes in the concrete foundation for the drain tile pipe to pass in and out of concrete sections of footings (i.e., so the interior and exterior pipe can be connected to be carried away from the structure, or so pipe can run into and out of porches or garage areas.) If sleeves are not in place, BPCI will cut the sleeves in using a rotary hammer at additional cost to the homeowner or contractor.
