Earwigs usually live in moist areas that are rich in decaying organic matter, such as under rocks, in decaying leaves, and in compost and mulch. Despite the scary-looking appearance, earwigs are harmless to humans. Most are actually beneficial scavengers who feed upon dead things, although few feed upon smaller insects or living plants. |

Despite their names, Sowbugs and pillbugs are crustaceans, not insects. They're actually more closely related to lobsters than to bugs. Sowbugs and pillbugs look like little armadillos. Children often refer to Pillbugs as "roly-poly bugs" because of their habit of rolling up into a ball when touched. Both species require very high moisture levels, so when they do get into buildings, they usually die quite quickly -- even without any treatment. |

Beetles are members of the massive order Coleoptera. With species numbering in the thousands, one out of every five animals in the world is a beetle. Despite the ire massive numbers, very few beetles are harmful. At worst, most beetles present a minor nuisance only when they get into buildings. The handsome creature on the right is a "click beetle." Though commonly mistaken for cockroaches by distressed homeowners, click beetles are completely harmless. |

Control measures for perimeter invaders usually focus on the exterior of a building. Depending on the specie, location, and season, Buckingham Pest Control technicians may choose from a wide variety of treatment methods, including granular products, sprays, and baits. The goal, however, is always the same: To control would-be perimeter invaders before they get inside.
